2020 SkillsFuture Study Award for the Real Estate Agency Industry

On the 12th of August, CEA sent out an email to all real estate salespersons (RES) to inform them that the 2020 SkillsFuture Study Award for the Real Estate Agency Industry, is now open for application.

SkillsFuture Study Awards are sector-specific awards under SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) that are aimed at encouraging Singaporeans to develop and deepen specialist skills. The awards also support Singaporeans who already have deep specialist skills to develop other competencies.

It aims to encourage Key Executive Officers (KEO) and RES to acquire complementary skillsets and competencies that will help them to upgrade and remain relevant in the real estate agency industry. The award is an extension of CEA’s efforts in support of the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map (REITM).

Launched on 8 February 2018, the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map (ITM) provides a roadmap for the transformation of the real estate industry to be future-ready. It is one of the 23 roadmaps developed under the Industry Transformation Programme (ITM). It was developed to transform the real estate industry so that it can continue to grow and provide good jobs for Singaporeans.

The government, together with stakeholders from across the entire real estate value chain, collectively developed the Real Estate ITM. More than 50 engagement sessions with stakeholders, including property agencies, conveyancing lawyers, valuation firms, facility managers, property developers, and property technology firms, were conducted over a year since the start of 2017.

This year, CEA has revised the eligibility criterion on work experience in the real estate agency industry. Singaporeans who are registered real estate salespersons with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the estate agency industry may now apply for the award. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Singaporeans who are registered real estate salespersons with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the estate agency industry.

  • Committed to broadening or deepening skills relevant to the industry.

  • Currently enrolled in or granted admission into the supported course.

  • Must not have completed the course of study at the point of application.

  • The course fee must be more than $5,000.

  • Not a previous recipient of any SkillsFuture Study Award, or a recipient of a full sponsorship provided by a company, Government agency or any other entity for the selected course.

The successful applicant will receive a monetary award of $5,000 to defray out-of-pocket expenses associated with the course that he or she will be taking. This may be used on top of existing Government course fee subsidies and is bond-free.
